Technical Writer IV

EControls, LLC is currently seeking an engineer with a well-rounded background in internal combustion engine (ICE) controls, calibration, application, and on-board diagnostic systems to author technical publications and assist developing service and engineering training materials within the technical publications group.

Key responsibilities of the position include managing technical documentation programs and writing, editing, revising and maintaining a variety of technical publications.  Publications include software manuals, calibration manuals, diagnostic and troubleshooting manuals, installation manuals, user manuals, product specifications, and technical bulletins.  Assist engineering with preparing engineering and service-related materials for training customer personnel.

 

Responsibilities

1.  Author and Maintain Technical Publications

•  Construct standardized templates for various technical publications.

•  Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation including product installation and operations manuals, product specifications, information and online support documents, help guides, quick start guides, multimedia animations and other instructional information, PC and embedded software reference manuals, engine calibration reference manuals, and control system diagnostic manual.

•  Write clear, accurate and helpful documents, maintaining consistency in style and trademark usage.  Ensure accuracy and completeness of technical documentation.

•  Provide translated information for foreign markets.

 

2.  Program Manager of Technical Publications

•  Act as project manager on technical documentation projects, collaborating with program managers to collect and interpret input from engineering or other technical personnel that will support documentation goals.

•  Assist engineering with generation of training materials (reference documents and presentations) for customer reference and training seminars (engineering and service).

•  Direct subordinates to carry out technical writing projects.

•  Manage documentation project plans and timelines– including information gathering, writing, printing and internal distribution. Communicate ongoing status at project meetings.

•  Acquire and organize basic source material, including applicable specifications, engineering, write-ups and drawing packages.

 

3.  Continuous Improvement

•  Develop an automated system to update and maintain embedded software and system calibration documentation (future).
